Kids’ Club Teachers are energetic, consistent, skilled in conflict management, caring, know how to have FUN and enjoy working in a collaborative environment! Kids’ Club staff partners are responsible for the general supervision and management of the children in the Kids’ Club Before and/or After School Program.

Hours: 24 hours/week (M, T, Th, F 2pm-6:15pm, W 1pm-6:15pm), and full time during Summer Camp if desired (July-August). Additional hours for team meetings, planning, or special projects. 

Salary and Benefits: $15.50-$17.00/hour 
Full health, dental, and vision available to all employees after 90-day probationary period per Kids’ Club Employee Policies. 
-Accrued vacation and sick leave up to 2 weeks each per year. 
-Summer schedule will increase to 40 hours a week, if desired.

Areas of Responsibility: 
General Teaching Responsibilities: 
-Planning and implementation of a variety of age-appropriate and theme related activities including music, art, drama, crafts, games, dancing, science/nature, and sports.
-Plans for monthly special events, such as family potlucks. 
-Provides complete weekly planning sheets and a monthly calendar to the parents, and Director. 
-Facilitates curriculum activities, which promote positive learning experiences for the children in a harmonious, safe, and caring environment. 
-Sets and maintains appropriate standards for the children’s behavior using non-punitive methods that teach self-discipline while supporting each child’s self-esteem. 
-Provides careful and concentrated supervision for play areas to ensure children’s safety and learning. 
-Promotes mutual respect and models problem solving skills. 
-Gears the program to the needs of the individual child with awareness of children’s interests, special needs, special talents and individual style and pace of learning. 
-Treats each child with dignity and respect. 
-Familiarity with minimum DSHS licensing requirements relating to classroom supervision, and health and safety. 
-Consults with the Director when difficult or unfamiliar situations arise. 

Staff Responsibilities: 
-Participates with the other staff in daily room set-up and take down tasks. 
-Assumes an equal share of the ordered arrangement appearance, décor, and learning environment of the rooms. 
-Fosters and maintains cooperative relationships with all other staff members. 
-Conveys staff concerns to the Director.

Community Relations: 
-Interacts positively and constructively with parents.
-Maintains a professional personal appearance as representative to the public for the enrichment of the program. 
-Builds strong community bonds through cooperation and collaboration. 
-Plans, implements, assists, and attends public-relations events sponsored by Kids’ Club. 

Administrative Relations: 
-Maintains minimum DSHS licensing requirements relating to classroom supervision, and health and safety. 
-Attends all staff meetings and required trainings. 
-Other duties as assigned. 

Evaluations: Employee performance will be evaluated on an informal ongoing basis throughout the time of employment. Each employee will also partake in formal evaluations as per the Kids Club personnel policies.


-Minimum 1 year experience and proven success working with school-age children (ages 5-12). 
-Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education, child development, or related field preferred but not required.
-Enthusiasm and interest in working with school-age children (ages 5-12). 
-Ability to plan and implement activities appropriate to age group and program goals. 
-Ability to practice non-punitive discipline methods.

-Approval of Washington State Criminal Records Checks. 
-Current certification of CPR, First Aid and HIV/AIDS Education instruction. 
-Documented negative TB test. 
-Food Handler’s Permit.
